At Whole Health Chiropractic, we create individual treatment plans for our patients that are completely customized to help them achieve their ultimate health potential. We are able to do this by offering multiple treatment modalities such as chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, and nutritional counseling. We believe that treating the true causes of physical illness or injury, brings restorative results, and long lasting health. From this philosophy, we have a community of clients that enjoy taking an active role in their own health; whether that means solving chronic pain issues, recovering from a sports injury, or seeking more mental and physical energy in daily activities.
Dr. Daniel Govenar has been practicing chiropractic and acupuncture for over ten years and has been dedicated to helping his patients live healthy, active, and successful lives. His own injury while in undergraduate school at San Diego State, led him to explore Kinesiology and to look beyond western medicine as the sole answer to sports related injuries, muscle pain, and athletic mobility. His studies in San Diego became focused on Athletic Training and inspired his desire to help others overcome musculoskeletal conditions. After receiving his B.S., he went on to pursue his Doctor of Chiropractic from the well recognized Southern California University of Health Sciences. As a graduate student, he was the recipient of the Mindlin Scholarship for Academic Achievement as well as other recognitions and graduated as his class valedictorian, in 2000.
After completing his chiropractic studies and clinical internships, Dr. Govenar went on to study at the South Baylo University in Anaheim, California. He received a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MSAOM) and became a licensed acupuncturist. His credentials brought him to practice chiropractic and oriental medicine with the Center for Health and Well-being in San Diego and also the San Diego Chiropractic Group before founding his own practice 2005.
Dr. Govenar founded Whole Health with the intention of creating a beneficial environment that would be a dynamic wellness center for his patients, not just a doctor’s office. His philosophy of building a community where diagnosis and treatment are conducted in a holistic and comprehensive manner have enabled the practice to continue to expand and provide outstanding care to patients young and old in the greater San Diego area.
Dr. Govenar is an avid surfer and golfer, who loves to enjoy his sports all over the world. His favorite spot for surfing currently, (besides San Diego) is Bali. He is fluent in Spanish after many extended trips to Central America, and enjoys photography and playing guitar.
Karen was born in Manila, Philippines and was raised in Seattle, Washington. In 2013 she moved to sunny San Diego to get out of the rain and enjoy the sunshine. During her youth she spent most of her time playing sports, such as basketball, and golf. Till today she is still passionate about sports and love being active with her daughters. While continuing to care for her daughters, she is also pursuing her Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration at National University. Hoping that one day she would become an Administrator in the Healthcare field. She has the passion to help others and hoping to make an impact in people’s lives.
Karen has found that Chiropractic care has been very beneficial. After her first child, she started experiencing sciatic pain which lead her to pursue Chiropractic care. Overtime the pain has not came back and she is now able to enjoy more activities with her family while being pain free. She truly believes that taking care of your body will lead to a happy, healthy life. Karen continues to motivate others and encourages others around her to stay on a positive, healthy lifestyle.
After several years of suffering from lower back pain, I finally took the plunge and visited Dr Govenar for a solution.
Sitting for more than a few minutes was a problem and began to affect my work. I needed a solution and a good one that would last.
My boss suggested to me that solution. He and his wife (amoungst others on our workforce) were already very happy clients of Dr. Govenar.
Once a baseline for my condition was established, a plan of action was laid out and I began that road to recovery. It didn’t take long before I realized relief and how to maintain it. While under his guidance I learned quickly how and why I was experiencing this annoying discomfort that I had adapted to. Wow, what an amazing transformation for me and my life thanks to Whole Health. I firmly believe a better and friendly environment to resolve issues like the ones I battled for years does NOT exist. Surgery and drugs? Sorry, I’ll pass on that approach. Dr. Govenar? In a San Diego heartbeat!
The funny thing about back pain is how you adjust to it and live with it. My back hurt for 15 years and I just adapted. I couldn’t turn my neck at all. I had to turn my whole body, even in the car to see sideways and behind me. I tried everything from massage to acupuncture which was great and certainly helped; in fact, it was my acupuncturist who suggested I see a chiropractor for a little snap. That is when Dr. Govenar asked, if instead of relieving the symptoms, how would I like to fix my back? He reversed the damage and the curvature while educating me on what was happening and how to live a pain-free life. My pain was severe but the relief was immediate. It is a commitment and a lot of time but Whole Health is an excellent place to do this work. I look forward to coming here and everyone is so nice and accommodating. I know Dr. Govenar is as committed to my recovery as I am. It is great to have someone on your side in such an important process.
was a little distrustful and a lot scared to go to a chiropractor. I have always tried to ignore the usual lower back pain, stiff neck and aching shoulders. These came and went, got better and worse and I just sort of got used to having some sort of pain all the time.
I had known Danny for a long time and thought he was very intelligent ( he does the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle!), trustworthy and kind; I had recommended him to my friends. But, I was not a good candidate for chiropractic care because I was in denial, scared , and impatient
